It’s been a unique summer, to say the least—but one of the positives to take away from it all is that we’ve had a unique opportunity to really enjoy the beauty of our own backyard. And that includes all of the great local businesses in Red Deer! Our Alberta city is filled with them, including plenty of excellent establishments to eat and drink. Dine in, order take out, or order delivery from any of these great spots to satiate your appetite or quench your thirst—and support local businesses along the way. 

The Granary Kitchen

Located on Red Deer’s South Side, the menu at Granary Kitchen focuses on sustainably grown local ingredients, seasonal flavours, and home-style cooking. Be sure to try their Southern Fried Chicken meal (a crowd favourite) and enjoy it on their gorgeous outdoor patio.  

Troubled Monk 

This family-owned and operated craft brewery and distillery is known for its award-winning beer and craft sodas. Their taproom is now open, with a number of COVID policies implemented including table service, private outdoor booths, and limited capacity. Their laidback Daycation lager is perhaps the perfect end-of-summer brew.  

Donut Mill 

The Donut Mill has been a local favourite since 1994—and for good reason. The shop’s menu includes classics like Honey Dip and Old Fashioned Glaze, as well as unique flavours such as Apple Pie (filled with spiced apple and rolled in cinnamon sugar), Rolo (filled with caramel whipped cream, topped with chocolate fondant, and garnished with butterscotch chips), and their very own Donut Mill Special, featuring vanilla whipped cream and maple fondant.
