Upcoming events in Red Deer and beyond: races, festivals, and plays

Red Deer is a city that’s fun for the whole family. No matter where your interests lie, there’ll be sure to be something that’ll tickle your fancy during your trip to this small corner of Alberta. And if you don’t believe us, then simply take a look at some of the events that we may coming up in Regina and beyond towards the end of May and into June: there’ll be a race, a festival just for kids, and the chance to see some of the best one-act plays by Canada’s hottest talents.
 

Test your stamina 

You might want to pack the running shoes if you’re planning on visiting on May 20. On that day, you’ll be able to take part in the Woody’s RV World Marathon, which is now celebrating its twentieth anniversary. Don’t worry if you’re not sure what level you’re at: there are different race lengths, so all abilities can join in. Full-marathon, half-marathon, 10km, and a kids race. Perfect!

Travelling with the kids in tow? Then make sure you don’t miss Central Alberta Children’s Festival, which will be taking place in Rotary Recreation Park on June 1 and 2. There’ll be singing, dancing, performances, and much more the thousands strong crowd to enjoy.
 

On the Stage

Look the theatre? Then don’t miss the Suncor Stage One Festival of New Canadian Work, a series of Canadian produced one-act plays that will be taking place from May 25 - June 9 at the Lunchbox Theatre in Calgary.
